Sintomas, ocorrência do bruxismo e sua relação com alergias em crianças

RESUMO

Introdução – O bruxismo é considerado um hábito parafuncional da musculatura mastigatória que se manifesta por ranger ou apertar os dentes durante o dia e/ou à noite. Material e Método - Com o objetivo de pesquisar a ocorrência e a relação existente entre bruxismo e alergia, 981 questionários respondidos pelos responsáveis por crianças com 5, 6 e 7 anos foram analisados. Além da ocorrência do bruxismo e da alergia, também foi avaliada a dor de cabeça e a dor na musculatura da face das crianças. Resultados - Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que 33,4% das crianças avaliadas eram portadoras do hábito de bruxismo e que 74,39% destas, eram alérgicas. Das crianças que relataram dor de cabeça e dor na musculatura da face, 46,1% e 55,2% respectivamente , rangiam os dentes. Conclusã o - Existe relação entre bruxismo e alergia. As dores de cabeça e na musculatura da face relatadas pelas crianças podem ser consideradas como conseqüência desse hábito parafuncional.

ABSTRACT

Introduction - Bruxism is a parafunction, characterized by rhythmic activity of the masticatory muscles that causes clenching or grinding of the teeth, nocturnal or diurnal. Material and Method - A total of 981 questionnaires were analyzed having in mind the objective of raising up the number of children ages 5,6,7, who grind their teeth and the relation among bruxism and allergy/asthma. Also were analyzed the average frequency of headache and facial muscleache in children who suffer from bruxism. The responsible children legal answered the list of questions, which formally authorized their children to participate in this research. Results - The results obtained have shown that 33,4% of the studied children suffered from bruxism and 74,4% of those children were allergic. From the children that narrated suffering headache (46,1%) and from the children that told suffering from facial muscleache 55,2% grind their teeth as well. Conclusion - There is a relation among bruxism and allergy. The headaches and facial muscle narrated by the children could be considered as consequence from bruxism.
